Buying guide
Don't have crypto yet? Here is how people get some.
You do not need to already own cryptocurrency to buy a vehicle with it — most first-time crypto buyers acquire it in the days or hours before their visit. This is the plain-English version of how that works.
Choose a reputable, licensed exchange
Widely used platforms like Coinbase, Kraken, and Gemini let you buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other coins with a bank transfer, debit card, or wire. Compare fees and confirm the platform is licensed to operate in your state before funding an account — this guide does not endorse a specific one.
Complete identity verification (KYC)
Licensed exchanges verify your identity and link a funding source before you can buy or send crypto. This is normal, expected, and required by law — not a red flag. Have a photo ID and bank information ready.
Buy the coin, then confirm you can send it
Once purchased, most exchange apps let you send directly from their built-in wallet — a separate wallet app is not required for most buyers. If you prefer to hold your own keys, you can withdraw to a personal wallet first.
Give yourself a buffer, then buy close to your visit
Prices move and some exchanges hold new purchases for a short period before you can send them. Buy close to when you plan to pay rather than weeks ahead — our payment request locks your dollar total the moment it is created, so there is no benefit to buying early.
When you are ready
Bring your phone with your exchange app or wallet installed. Build your deal, choose to pay with crypto, and your sales rep walks you through sending the exact amount due.
Common questions
Is it safe to buy cryptocurrency?
Use a licensed, reputable exchange, enable two-factor authentication, and never share your private keys or recovery phrase with anyone — including American Dream Motors staff. We will never ask for your seed phrase; anyone who does is not us.
How much crypto should I buy?
Buy for the exact USD total your sales rep gives you. Bitflow locks the dollar amount at the moment you send, so there is no need to overbuy for price movement.
Can I buy crypto the same day I visit the lot?
Often yes — most exchanges process a purchase in minutes. If you are new to a platform, build in time for its own identity-verification and transfer holds before you drive over.
Do I need a hardware wallet or is an app enough?
An app is enough for most buyers. A hardware wallet is a personal security preference for holding crypto long-term, not a requirement for a one-time vehicle purchase.
