Before buying any used car in town, ours included: read the history report, start it cold, check every fluid, look at tire date codes and brake wear, and drive it on both Route 11 stop-and-go and 65 mph on I-81. A seller who hesitates at any step is telling you something.

Virginia dealers handle titling, temporary tags, and the SUT (sales and use tax) at purchase. Independent dealers must post a Buyer Guide on every used vehicle — read it, because it states whether the car is sold as-is or with a warranty.
